The convergence on the same core agent loop across all major coding tools is the structural story underneath the week-to-week feature releases. When everyone runs explore, plan, execute, reflect, the differentiation moves to tooling breadth and memory quality.

A shared protocol for tool access means which agent you use matters less than which tools your agent can reach. The coding agent race is probably going to resolve into an infrastructure race faster than most people expect, with whoever wins on persistent memory and multi-step reliability taking the actual market.
